First shown in the JFFB 1995, this films presents three Jewish comedians: Austin Tyschus, Moishe Waldocks (now a Rabbi) and Deb Filler. They are children of survivors and their parents Holocaust experiences influences their performances. Deb Filler now in Germany for the first time will present the film in person. She can also be seen in a wonderful performance “ FILLER UP” at “The Friends of the Italian Opera” Theatre, tel: 030 – 691 12 11 (www.thefriends.de) from June 10th –16th – not to be missed!

In this Oscar nominated documentary the film maker tells the story of his father, the famous architect Louis Kahn. Kahn died penniless in 1974. His only son, who hardly knew him (Kahn left one wife and two girlfriends all with children) visits Kahns colleagues, friends and the incredible buildings to try to understand who his father was. Billie Holidays most famous song “Strange Fruit” was also written by Abel Meeropol, a Jewish teacher and Union activist, in 1938. Meeropol and his wife adopted Michael and Robert Rosenberg after their parents Ethel and Julius Rosenberg were hanged in 1953.

Starring Timothy Hutton as Daniel and Mandy Patinkin as his father Paul.
